Tough Mother Spritzer

INGREDIENTS:

2 CUPS Sparkling water
4 TBSP Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®
1 TSP Honey or agave nectar
½ TSP Organic lemon juice
1 ea. Mint sprig
OR
4 OZ Tough Mother Lemonade Steept Sipping Tonic®

METHOD:

Combine all ingredients together in a tall glass and whisk until the honey is completely dissolved. Toss a few ice cubes in and you’re ready to go!

OPTIONS:

Add a ½ teaspoon of freshly juiced ginger or shot of Vodka for a lil’ extra feel-good.

Tough Mother Ketchup

INGREDIENTS:

4 TBSP Organic honey (or organic agave syrup)
2 TBSP Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®
1 CUP Organic tomato paste
1 TSP Onion powder
½ TSP Oregano, dried
TT Kosher or sea salt (to taste) 

METHOD:

Mix tomato paste and your favorite sweetener (until smooth). Add onion powder, salt, and oregano. Thin the mixture with our Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®.

 

CHEF’S NOTE:

Try this delicious, quick and easy Ketchup recipe with another of our favorite Tough Mother tips: Take a few Yukon Gold or sweet potatoes and make your own oil-free, homemade fries using a silicone, non-stick baking sheet. Double down with a little bit of old-style mustard seeds and a veggie burger and you’ve got yourself a Tough Mother meal that feeds the body and soul!

  • Yellow or full-seed mustard
  • Chipotle puree or seasoning

Tough Mother Hangover Remedy

INGREDIENTS:

1 CUP Water, boiling or cold
1 TBSP Organic honey or organic agave syrup
2 TBSP Prickly pear puree
4 TBSP Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®
OR
2 OZ Tough Mother Steept Double Shot Prickly Pear Cactus Lemonade®

METHOD:

Hot or cold, this recipe will tip you back upright!

To one cup of hot or cold filtered water, mix the remaining ingredients.

Stir quickly to dissolve the honey/agave. Don’t be afraid to double dose for a speedy recovery! Tough Mothers know it’s a good idea to be a little heavy handed on this pour.

 

CHEF’S NOTE:

A Tough Mother stays prepared, so gather your ingredients before a wild night on the town! This delicious cure-all can be consumed Hot or Cold.

 

Prickly pear (or Cactus Pear) puree can be purchased ready-to-use at specialty grocery stores or can be made from the fruit of the cactus plant. For the DIY’ers, simply peel the fruit (like a kiwi), and puree in the blender. Watch out for the tiny hair-like “spines” – a good pair of gloves comes in handy. Strain out the peppercorn-like seeds.

Tough Mother Bleu Cheese Dressing

INGREDIENTS:

1 TBSP Organic honey (or organic agave syrup)
3 TBSP Tough Mother Good & Spicy Steept Tonic®
1 CUP Coconut milk yogurt OR plain Greek yogurt
1 TSP Lemon juice, organic
1 TBSP Green onion, minced
½ CUP Bleu cheese, crumbles
½ TSP Cracked black Pepper
1 TSP Kosher or sea salt

METHOD:

In a small bowl, mash the bleu cheese into the yogurt. Add the green onions, followed by honey, salt and pepper.

 

Separately, mix lemon juice and Tough Mother Good & Spicy Steept Tonic® together. Fold this mixture into the blue cheese mash to thin the dressing bit by bit.

 

CHEF’S NOTE:

For Tough Mothers who are here for a good time, not a long time - a less health-focused option: substitute the yogurt for equal parts mayo and sour cream.

 

This dressing works great with raw veggie trays, as a sauce for a buffalo chicken sandwich (or buffalo cauliflower bites, yes!), a healthier dip for chicken wings or as a dressing with a salad of grilled chicken, apples, and lettuces.

 

Tough Mother Hot Tea

INGREDIENTS:

1 CUP  Water, boiling
1 TBSP  Organic honey or organic agave syrup
1 ea.  Tea bag (stay tuned! our own fiery chai tea blend coming soon!)
1 TSP  Organic lemon juice
2 TBSP  Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®

METHOD:

To one cup of hot water, add your favorite life-giving tea (bag or loose leaf). Allow to steep. Once tea is infused, add your favorite sweetener, fresh lemon juice, and Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®. Stir well and sip to your health! 

CHEF’S NOTE:

Even Tough Mothers need a moment to rest from time to time. For those days when you need a special “pick-me-up” or are under the weather, this Tough Mother hot tea soothes the body and the soul.

Tough Mother Bees Knees

INGREDIENTS:

2 CUPS Organic lemon juice
3 CUPS Spring water
6 TBSP Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic®
6 TBSP Honey or agave nectar
OR
4 OZ Tough Mother Steept Double Shot Blue Agave®
½ CUP Vodka
6ea. Lemon thyme sprig or thyme sprig 

METHOD:

In a medium sauce pan warm one cup of water, honey and our Tough Mother Sweet & Spicy Steept Tonic® over medium-high heat. Bring to a slow boil while stirring constantly. Remove from the heat.

 

Add herbs and allow the mixture to steep for at least 5 minutes. Strain into a large glass pitcher.

 

Add the remaining ingredients and chill in the refrigerator for about an hour (not you! The mixture…).

 

Serve over ice, garnish with a lemon wheel and a thyme sprig. Enjoy!
